Being a cohort participant means being involved in a research study throughout your life by contributing to biological and social research. As the photos in this theme show, for parents and adult children, the meaning of participation is diverse; while it is remembered or recorded in different ways it is also, for many, routine and simply a part of growing up. For some, participation also becomes embodied in places where their data is collected, or in the routine documents of data collection or cohort memorabilia, while for others it is in relationships as participation becomes something meaningful that is ‘passed on’ between the parent and child, and the study itself.
